Visiting Gurudev Siddha Peeth Ashram near the village Ganeshpuri,
north of Mumbai

Coloba
district of Mumbai, the most 'Western' of all Indian cities.
We spent a couple of nights here, searching out special photo
processing for the cave pictures, Christmas shopping and making
train reservations. |
Gurudev Siddha
Peeth Ashram, with Day and Dan in the foreground. We couldn't
live within the ashram, as we were there only a week, so we went
to the morning and evening programs. |

Dan Russo
is a friend who is living at the ashram, and met us for lunch
and walks through the village. He snapped some of these photos,
when Lou/Billbecame too self-conscious. Our favorite restaurant
was the Bhuvan Ramesh, for their fine masala dosa-- a kind of
big crepe rolled up with a spicy potatoe mix inside. |
Our haven was Gandhi
Lodge, a 5 minute walk from the ashram. Our small, clean room
cost Rs150 per day, a little under $4 U.S. Breakfast was another
Rs30 or so: fresh fruit and maybe some poundcake and/or cookies,
purchased from the little shops close by. Chai (excellent Indian
spiced tea) we had delivered to our room. |
