Landscape Arch

'cave' arch

(above) Landscape Arch, said to be the longest natural arch in the world. Everybody knows that it's not going to last too much longer, so the sooner you get out to see it the better...

Arches National Park is rather small, at least compared to the others we visited. It's hikes are relatively easy and rich with unusual rock formations and hundreds of rock arches.

'cloud' arch

'path' arch

On this walk we kept a constant watch on the horizon. A storm was approaching, and the path was mostly 'slickrock', which gets more so when wet. A fall in these rock formations could be very serious ~~ even in this small, well-populated park, it would have taken hours to be rescued.
