Sweater ~ knitted wool

One of the many sweaters that Jan knitted, commonly without a pattern. Her sketchbooks reveal that she would sometimes design individual pictoral elements on graph paper, and then execute them at the required scale, knitting "on the fly". Early on she had taught herself to knit from a book, and only discovered later that she knitted upside down and backwards.
